about
The Railway City Arts Crawl is an annual event held at various venues throughout St. Thomas. Its purpose is to highlight our local arts, culture and unique sites. It is set at a time of year that is quiet and people are looking for something to get them out of the house.
The Artists are expected to create art in each venue as part of the crawl. Each Artist who participates will be given venue space at no cost. The Artist is to bring their own supplies and any artwork they wish to sell and ensure they arrive in a timely fashion. The medium an Artist uses may determine which venue an artist is placed in. For example, a potter with a wheel will be put in a larger space. A painter working on a small portrait can fit in a smaller venue.
The event aims to attract a local and regional audience with a varying range of interest in the arts. By creating an interactive experience with prizes available, the participants are able to have fun with the Crawl. Prizes are awarded by using a “passport”. Each venue will have these available for pick up, and each participant brings this with them to have stamped at each venue. If they get 10 stamps they are able to enter their names into a draw for prizes.
Following the Crawl, there will be an After Party following the close of the crawl on Saturday evening (more details to follow). Artists are encouraged to join in as many participants from the Crawl will be in attendance and it is a good opportunity for everyone to come together in celebration of the arts.
Although we have many venues lined up there is limited room! The sooner you return your application, the sooner you can be placed in a venue.
